session 7

Well, once again I have learned a ton. I really like the highlighting feature and making boxes. The kids will love to this. I will have to play with neoffice to figure it all out! Being able to use the bubble site will be helpful for kids taking notes. (Esp those that really have difficulty taking notes)
I remember using notecards. I still really only use them for vocab.....but quizlet has even taken the place of that. This will be great to use toward the end of the year, when the kids are already done with school.

session 6

Thank you for giving us time to work on the projects and giving insight of how to complete the project.
I really enjoyed looking throught the false sites. Wow!! It is easy to look past some of the info. I would have hard time trying to teach the kids where to look since their patience is not the best!!

I am a wiki

I am really excited about the idea of a wiki. What a great educational use for the laptops the kids love to hate!! This can truly be a collaborative working environment. My homework for tonight is to think of a way to use this in my science class.
Searching for key words and ways to instruct the kids is still a goal of mine. I also learned a new concept....boolean search.

session 4

Wow! What a wealth of knowledge out there. I need to be able to spend more time sifting through the information that will be relevant to me and my classes. The minerva will save Dan time.....I can look it up and then he can access and I do not have to act like a damsel in distress.
I would like the kids to have the autonomy to get on the sites and look for themselves as well.

I am looking forward to the wiki....maybe this is some thing my kids can explore. The blogging would be great reflections for them.

My big idea for the day......Know what your looking/searching for.

session 3

I was able to make a poster for my wall from chap 6. I am really happy to put it up and I hope the kids will grasp the idea of a "peer learner'

Today we went over the evaluation part of the process. I am a believer in working backwards.....just like eating dinner for breakfast. I agree with making self-assessments for the kids and making them accountable. I have had kids write the rubrics before. This was effective for the kids that beleive in a challenge and therefore challenging themselves.

I LOVE the rubric makers...these will be used often. I am from a standard based world and I wish I would have these earlier.

Thanks Again!!

session 2

I am really excited to be a learning something that will really make an impact on how kids learn. Learning how to write an essential question is critical for me. I need to think of all the answers that kids may type. Plagiarism is also a problem. Kids have no idea that they are even doing it. However, some may not care and will learn the hard way. Will they learn from punishment? Or will laziness and learned helpless follow them them around?
I loook forward to my quest to become a better teacher.
